I haven't really messed with VMware, but there are many youtube videos on how to set it up for Debian (which is what Lemur is based on). Once you get it set up for Debian 9 then you can install Lemur.

Liquid Lemur is installed by right-clicking on the desktop to show the menu. From there go to Applications -> System -> Install. That will start the Liquid Lemur installer.
