FORUM REGISTRATION - Lemur - 11-03-2018

Due to the recent surge in spammers and "potential" spammers, I've changed the registration to email AND Admin verification. Additionally, I am requesting that new members drop me an email / message stating why they joined Lemur.

If you have trouble with registration or you feel you were banned without cause, then please contact me via the link below:

Thank you for your understanding!

Just letting new members know...

This policy is still in effect! At some point I might have a forum MOD to help keep the riff-raff out. Big Grin

RE: FORUM REGISTRATION - Lemur - 09-06-2019

There have been a few new members signing up, but none have contacted me as requested. Additionally, their profile details don't line up with what the forum shows. For example, they claim to be located in the USA in their profile, but their IP address points to India or Russia. Now I could assume they are using a VPN, but the other info doesn't add up. Just to be clear, I have no problem with anyone from those or any other country being part of the Lemur community. In fact, back in the early days of Lemur we had several Lemur users from Russia. I was even working with a couple of them on improving Lemur.

The problem I have is people coming here claiming to be Lemur / Linux users and when I let them in they post garbage in the forums. Then I have to take time to purge / ban them and clean up the mess they left behind. This takes time away from working on Lemur itself. And I am still doing this alone (with the exception of Tyler's artwork, which I'm grateful for!) and time is not something I have a lot of these days. So, if new members can't take the time to drop me a message then I won't let them in. I don't like being that way, but I don't see any other alternative at the moment. Just a little tidbit of info, over 70% of the current names on our member list were banned as spammers.

Now, if someone wants to volunteer to be a forum MOD then I'll remove the Admin verification policy. The forum MOD will need to check the forums daily. So, please don't volunteer if you can't do that. Please feel free to Contact Me if interested.
